Hardly Common is a Made-to-Order atelier. Most pieces are crafted for you after you place your order — pearls hand-selected at the source in Zhuji, individually knotted with Japanese silk in our Ontario studio, and finished only when they meet our standard. The wait is the work.

Atelier Lead Time

For most designs, please allow 4–6 weeks from order confirmation to dispatch. This window covers individual pearl matching, hand-knotting, and our final quality review before the piece leaves the studio.

Collection Pieces (Ready to Ship)

A small number of completed pieces — held in our current Collection — are ready to ship within 48 hours. These are clearly marked on the product page. If you need a piece quickly, look for the Collection variant.

Complimentary Shipping

Free standard shipping on every order within Canada and the United States. No minimum.

Delivery Times (After Dispatch)

Canada — Standard: 3–7 business days. Expedited (additional fee): 1–3 business days.

United States — Standard: 5–10 business days. Expedited (additional fee): 2–5 business days.

International — Select destinations, 7–21 business days. Customs duties and import taxes are the recipient's responsibility.

Packaging

Every piece arrives in our signature Hardly Common packaging — a soft jewelry pouch inside a branded gift box, alongside a hand-signed certificate documenting the pearls in your strand.

Need It Sooner?

If you're working against a hard deadline — a wedding, an anniversary, a gift with a fixed date — email us at hello@hardlycommon.com before ordering. We'll tell you honestly whether we can meet your date. Sometimes a Collection piece fits perfectly; sometimes we can prioritize the studio queue. We won't promise what we can't deliver.

Shipping Issues

If your piece arrives damaged or doesn't arrive within the expected window after dispatch, reach out immediately and we'll resolve it with the carrier.
